July has seen Sean Whelan (Preston) and Brandon Payne (Celtic) sign for clubs in England and Scotland; this will be followed by Conor Masterson signing for Liverpool in September. These players have worked extremely hard over the last few years to make this happen. Talent is one thing but these players have shown unbelievable determination to succeed. It’s this determination that makes you stand out from the thousands of other talented players.
The club is confident the players will have good careers and we look forward to following those careers with pride that we helped them along the way to achieve their goals.
Lucan United has had Six Irish Internationals this year which is a major achievement for a club who maybe is not considered one of the big schoolboy clubs. It shows that you don’t have to play for known big clubs to achieve something in the game. It’s not about the name of the club; it’s about the people who work in the club.
We believe this is just the start for the club as we have gained valuable experience through this process that will help us develop more players to play at all different levels of the game.
